i want balloon
We went to Kuching Festival Food Fair yesterday evening. Yes, finally Agnes and I have chance to walk around food fair. Before yesterday, we were only wait in car for bappy to 'tapao' (take away) the food.
It was hot, humid and crowded with people. We walk through each stalls to see what food to take away and eat at home. I saw Miss Yong and her fiance there while hunting for food. We greeted each other and did some quick catch up. Haha! Miss Yong was my colleague. Glad to meet them after so long. Miss Yong currently in long permed hair. Nice looking and young! :)
Along the way we walk through the stalls, Agnes stares at kids holding 'flying' colourful balloons around the fair.
agnes: Mummy, I want balloon...

agnes: Mummy, I want balloon...
mummy: we buy food first, then see if we can find the balloon stall okay?
Bappy and I were busy looking and choosing what food to take away while Agnes following us patiently and busy looking at those colourful flying balloons around her. Stalls after stalls, agnes suddenly shouted at me...
agnes: mummy, mummy... balloon ar.. balloon ar.. *pointing at tons of flying balloons from a stall.
mummy: oh... balloon ar! okay.. we will walk there. wait awhile dear. Bappy is buying some food.
few minutes later...
agnes: mummy, mummy... what is this? *showing her arm with black and white thingy.
Bappy and I look carefully and try to figure out what is that...
bappy: aiyo, i think is bird shit!
mummy: har?! bird shit?! let me see if can ask some tissue paper from hawkers?
while cleaning agnes' arm...
mummy: B, you know what is this or not? is bird ngk ngk(bird shit) ar .. chou chou (means stink)
agnes: chou chou ar... bird bird zai na li.. (where is the bird)..
mummy: bird fly away lo...
After cleaning agnes' arm, we proceeded to balloon station. :) Agnes finally smiles and feels the fair fun. We let her choose the colour of the balloon she likes. At first, she choose a funny shape of balloon. It is a flying balloon with the combination of few long shape balloon to make a shape of an ant? dragonfly? mosquitoes? Bappy and I don't have any idea on what is that balloon representing. And we don't want to get her something funny but expensive. So, we asked Agnes to choose the round balloon with a doggie shape on top. Yes, a typical balloon shape that we think nice. Haha. So, Agnes chose an orange balloon. What a parent hor. Ask the kid to choose but the parent make the decision at the end.
This make me think of a Singapore mandarin series - I'm not stupid.
teacher: who wants to act prince in the play? Students, any suggestion?
student A: Brian, he is tall.
student B: Peter, he is fair.
student C: me, me, me...
teacher: Good. All of your suggestions are good. But teacher has made the decision. John will play the prince role.
students: ...
Huh? Why adult still ask for children's opinions since they have made the decision without taking into consideration of children's opinions?? Funny huh?
Hm. Bappy and I will have to educate ourselves liaw. Have to change our mindset. To accept Agnes' decision when we let her make her choice. The balloons looks funny to bappy and I, but maybe it looks special in her eyes. Or she looks at that balloon in artistic way? maybe...
Anyway, she was happy and satisfied holding her flying balloon in her hand all the way home.
-holding her balloon everywhere she goes happily-
